Product Description
Iconography is governed by a set of unique rules and well-defined procedures inherited by tradition from generation to generation.
An icon goes through four main stages of development:
Stage I: The base: made of wooden board.
Stage II: the Canvas: made of - Cloth (Pavoloa in Russian) - Chalk - Special glue.
Stage III: Artistic painting procedure.
Stage IV: Layer of protecting cover (Olifa in Russian).
Procedure in brief:
First the Canvas is prepared and glued on the wooden board. The iconographer then starts her/his long and detailed painting in which 23-karate gold leafs and a set of natural colors are used. The set of these colors are used in a way following the "Egg-Tempera" method.
Holy Land Iconographer is a Jerusalem resident and of Russian origin. She is a follower of the Revered Russian Mother Ulianya (M. N. Solkolova).

A BEAUTIFUL GIFT
