Nice packable jacket
By collects.junk
Ex Officio has made a name for itself by excelling at travel-ready clothing: lightweight, quick-drying, and packable. Considering how compressible this jacket is, the amount of warmth it offers is pretty amazing. Filled with PrimaLoft, which according to the manufacturer retains its ability to warm even when wet, this water-resistant and also windproof jacket is quite the all-in-one deal, and only weighs ~15-16 oz! The shell and the lining are both 100% polyester, but they feel like a soft nylon fabric. The inside collar is lined with microfleece, which also covers the top end of the zipper, I guess to protect your chin from getting chafed. Inside the jacket there are 2 unzippered pockets on the right side labeled for sunglasses and boarding pass-the sunglasses pocket is pretty deep, but the opening itself is rather narrow, making it perfect for sunglasses, but a bit too narrow to easily retrieve smaller items. The boarding pass pocket is also deep, but with a much wider opening that easily accommodates a questing hand. On the left side are 2 more pockets, but both zippered. The top one is a vertical pocket for cell phones, the bottom is a horizontal pocket for keys which includes a key clip inside. Another semi-hidden pocket can be found on the bottom part of the left-side sleeve; this can presumably be used as a security pocket, as it's hard to tell it's even there! The inside tail contains a cord which can be tightened on either side (bungee cinches just below the zipper ends) to keep the cold from seeping in through the bottom. The inside tail part of the jacket also contains the Velcro snaps and pocket that can be used to make the travel pillow. Honestly, the pillow that the rolled up jacket makes is pretty lumpy, due to the zippers poking out and the general lumpiness after squeezing everything in, and I don't think it's worth it to utilize this particular function. While the jacket features are pretty awesome, there are a few drawbacks. First, a personal pet peeve: like most synthetic winter jackets, this baby attracts a lot of static! (If you find one that doesn't, please let me know!) Second, although the contour lines on the jacket are a nice style feature, they can't hide the fact that the body of the jacket is quite boxy. I'm 5'7" and 115 lbs, so very slender, but I felt that the body was cut too wide (I have the XS size). While the shoulders are perfectly narrow, the body is a bit too wide, even with a sweater underneath. However, I will say that I have very long arms, and the sleeves on the jacket were perfect. My husband was gifted the men's version of this jacket in a size L, and at 6'4", his sleeves are also fine for his long arms! All-in-all, a great jacket that I'd bring along while traveling, but not an everyday jacket for me--with the boxy fit, it's just not stylish enough!

Great lightweight jacket perfect for travel!
By CMJ
I've had this jacket for about a year now and I love it! At first I was a little disappointed because it is very thin, but its not bulky so that is good. I have used it on cool days where it started out in the 20s and 30s hiking, and around town in the same temperatures but layering a bit more since I'm moving around less. It also blocks moderate wind. It is perfect for those cool Texas mornings that then warm up to 60 or so!. This jacket has many pockets, turns into a neck pillow, and is soft. I have it in black and since I use it often for outdoors it has been washed MANY times, and it still looks and feels great.

Wonderful lightweight jacket
By TropicalMinnesota
This has a very soft outer fabric and a very thin insulating layer. It was a little cool for a walk in 45 degree weather when worn over a light shirt. It was fine once I got moving, but I would not wear it to watch a spectaror sport under 55 degrees or so without a decent sweater underneath. Fortunately it is a generous size, so that is not a problem. I ordered a size less than I expected - check the sizes on the company's web site before you order. The sleeves are quite long and have elastic wrists, so even though they are a bit long on me they still look right. It has lots of inside pockets that I was amused to see had icons embroidered to let me know what was supposed to go where. It folds into a long pillow (not a horseshoe shaped neck pillow like I saw another jacket make) that can button to make a circle. I bought this in part for travel, but loading the pockets with my passport, glasses, phone, etc. will make it rather uncomfortable as a neck roll and removing everything will be more work than just keeping everything someplace else from the start. This is a great jacket and Amazon's price is terrific. I am very happy with my purchase.
