Confessions of a Headset Addict

I have been a headset nut for 30 years. I have owned most every offering from Flightcom, DC, Telex, Lighspeed and the ilk. I tended to have a wandering headset eye and was always looking for a better fit, better ruggedness, better audio and on and on. The grass always seemed greener whenever a new model came out and my headset envy would not be checked until I bought the next greatest thing. So at Oshkosh 2010 I purchased a Bose A20 headset after attending the Bose introductory multimedia event. It was very well done and it was hook, line and sinker for me. After returning from OSH using my new A20 I decided to get 3 LS Sierras through the Lightspeed "trade up" program (I had some first-generation Lightspeeds among my pile). Figured the new Sierras would be good for my Comanche passengers without the price of the Zulu or my new A20 toy.Lo and behold having flown both headsets I prefer the audio in the Sierra over my Bose A20. They A20 is an awesome headset but not worth 50% more than the Sierra. In fact I kind of wished I had gotten 4 Sierras or 1 Zulu and 3 Sierras. I have swapped headsets with passengers and got their impressions and they liked the compactness of the A20 but preferred the audio clarity and comfort of the Sierra. The Sierra earcups work better with sunglasses and don't seem to break the ANR noise seal as easily as the A20.Customer service from Lightspeed is fantastic. I had a problem with the battery box door being damaged on a Sierra and sent the headset in. They charged nothing to repair it. Nada. Zip. I got it back in a few days good as new no charge, even for return shipping. That's the kind of stuff that makes a customer become a true advocate and brand loyal. Customer service from Bose is good but not free with a certain air of "snootyness". Bose seems to think they are "Mercedes" and all other headset makers are "Hyundai's". You definitely buy into a certain "air" when you go Bose. I steered away from their home audio products decades ago and now I will probably do the same with the Aviation offerings. Don't buy into the Bose hype. Lightspeed rocks as a company and has fantastically engineered and built product line and doesn't have the distraction of providing products to Best Buy. Lightspeed talks to their customers nicely like we are the most important thing to them, as we truly are. With Lightspeed there is no, "call another 800 number", "we have to elevate your case to tier 2 support", "this is the wrong department", "that department is already closed for the day" and no foreign call centers. You are talking to a person where the buck stops at Lightspeed.I gave one pair of Sierras to my hangar mate who flies pipeline patrol daily. He has been using it for a year and absolutely loves them. He makes use of the bluetooth interface to call in to headquarters with his cell phone and we are both amazed how the pair has held up to the daily grind. He is very happy. His pair get abused on a daily basis and get hot, cold and tossed about.One caveat concerning the microphone power on the Sierra. The Bluetooth Telephone interface will not work UNLESS you have an audio panel or intercom of some sort switched on. Unlike the Zulu series, the Sierra series does not provide power to the microphone and relies on the audio panel or intercom to power the mic. Therefore you cannot use Sierra with a single-radio panel or handheld or with the headset "stand-alone", like you can with the Zulu, Bose and Telex offerings. While this isn't a problem 95% of the time it is a salient point that the marketing information fails to point out. We were going crazy trying to troubleshoot this mic/telephone problem(pipeline patrol C172) until we called LSE support and they told us about it. We flipped on the intercom and woola. Therefore these may not be a good choice for a non-electrical airplane like my NORDO Luscombe 8A or single-seat biplane (ATC is highly over-rated when you fly something like those anyway).Notwithstanding the one mic power nit above we love our Sierras. I no longer have headset envy and they have stopped my lustful headset wandering eye.

Comfortable, light and worth the $$

ANR works great. Sound is crystal clear and mic pics up speech without having it positioned too close to lips. The blue tooth feature for cell is nice, but I'm finding that I have to pair it with my iPhone 4 each time...shouldn't it be automatic? Haven't tried the mp3 music adapter yet. Heading up to Santa Ynez this weekend.... maybe I'll give it a go.

Love it!

I don't have a single complaint about this headset. It's light weight and comfortable. It breathes! After a 2 hour flight in Phoenix, AZ during the summer, my head isn't soaking wet. I have not tried the Bluetooth functionality yet, but like the aux input for a music device while playing with it at home. Haven't used a music device while flying yet, not sure how well the music mute works when radio transmissions come in. Will probably try it out when I start cross countries. The only difference between the Sierra and Zulu I've found is weight and $300. For the amount of time I spend in the air, the small weight difference, and the $300, weight isn't an issue for me. I plan to buy another for my wife when I finish my private pilot certificate!

Quality & authenticity

This looks good and all, however getting a well made jacket as Naruto wore in the Shippuden series, is a little better. It's basically made out of a cotton-like fabric woven into a design similar to that of a track-jacket. And his pants are i believe orange; similar to that of khakis.I'm just pointing out the obvious here, fellow Naruto Fans.I word out of topic for all those Naruto-fans out there, if u really want to make it look good, try wrapping the kunai,shuriken holster with actual bandages. It might actually work.But this is just my opinion.

Quality Budget Headset

I needed a second headset for my daughter and guest passengers. The headset was not going to get much use so price and light weight were very important. High quality aviation headsets are expensive, that's a fact. Finding an inexpensive headset that will provide comfort and noise protections is a lot to ask for. I tested the set flying a 172N, this is a older airplane, it's not quiet and the avionics are dated. My standard headset to compare are David Clark H10 13.4 at $300.00. The nice feature of this set for a passenger/guest is they are very light, they fit a child (8 year old) too. The set comes with a microphone muff, however it works better without the muff and placing the microphone close to your lips as possible are helpful. I consulted with the people at Softcomm, they were very helpful in answering question about their complete line of budget priced headsets.

I originally purchased this rug in size 4x6, recvd 3x5. Contacted seller, a return label issued and credit was given of $94.00. They advertized a bigger rug 5x7 for more money and I ordered it, I then recvd a 4xll which almost the same size as the original order that I purchased, but only this time I paid $140.00.The rug is beautiful, I love it. It is stunning, but I feel that I should be given another credit especially since I ended up with almost the same size.I contacted Rugs Usa and was advised that the rugs are usually off by a few inches. But I think the new rug, because of the size, should be priced the same or at least cheaper then 140.00. Thanks Carmen

Fits adjustable beds

I have an adjustabled bed with a mattress that has a pillow topper plus a 3 in pillow top mattress pad. I was always having trouble finding sheets that would not pop off when I raised the bed. I have had this set for a few months now. I have washed them several times without incident. They have never popped off the bed. There are heavy elastic straps that anchor the corners. They are also deep enough that the mattress is not exposed when raised. I am buying another set. The fabic is different than cotton. I do not sweat like with cotton even good egyptian. Its more silky soft. I do wish they were cheaper but I have found nothing else that worked and I have bought a lot of sheets.

Worth Every Penny

I have had everything from 100% bamboo sheets, flannel sheets, 750 TC Cotton Sheets and not so high TC Cotton sheets so I have some experience for comparison.Bamboo is very durable and tends to be very soft in texture. It is also supposed to have antimicrobial abilities.100% bamboo sheets I have found to be expensive and shrink quite badly, they also get "flimsy looking" and fuzzy and start looking old within a few washes in addition to the shrinking.These DreamFit sheets are 70% Bamboo with 30% Cotton. They don't shrink and are deliciously smooth and quite soft. These are not quite as soft as 100% bamboo (but very close!), but they are smoother and remain looking "new" because they don't get the fuzziness.DreamFit fitted sheets have nice corner bands to hold the fitted sheet into place. These are not little strips either, but substantial 1" bands that prevent the fitted sheet from wandering or popping a corner. The flat sheet is larger than a regular flat sheet so "one side is NEVER too short to tuck in" even on the newer thicker mattresses. The fit does not change even after repeated washes. The corner straps show no signs of coming apart. Seams are holding together wonderfully.These are by far the best sheets I have ever encountered. Exceptional quality. I purchased the first set of these sheets with my new bed at Sleep Train almost 6 months ago and decided to purchase a second set - I was elated that Amazon carried them! Yes, I wish they were cheaper, but I think they're still worth it in the long run!

I've bought and thrown away more sheets sets than I can count. The expensive higher thread sheets were too polyester-like and the lower-thread counts were scratchy and wrinkled easily. But these sheets are just perfect: crisp but not stiff, wrinkle-free and still comfortable after many washings. Every time I lie down on them I appreciate the great feeling -- like Goldilocks, I always say "Ah, just right". :)

Wonderful Boots

I bought these for my dad who has a high instep and fussy feet. He loved them. The leather is very very soft and the boot is flexible. Very comfy for him. He wore them all day. I got the 11 1/2 EEE. The boot does strut a minimum long toe so if you like this style I think the boots are great. A tad hard to get on the first time but after only one short wear they slipped right on since the leather is so soft and supple.The heel was not too high either. The color is nice too, not cheapy looking.I would recommend these boots.

Great quality boots!

Great cowboy boots! Very comfortable and light! Leather sole, pegged and nailed, snip toe. Fit to size, I'd say that US 10.5 (D) is EU 43.5 (app. 44). And - great price!
