A nice LITTLE set
By J. M. Lane
I am...um, older than most kids :) I had slot cars when I was a, um, younger kid (in the 1960's). Back then, we had the T-Jet cars, and we modified them extensively. There was an aftermarket for high performance parts (chassis, bodies, magnets, gears, wheels and tires, armatures, you name it), available mostly through mail order via ads in model racing magazines (which we collected). I remember when the AFX cars came out. Nobody liked them (among my friends). They were too fast. There was no point in working on them, they were so fast already it made no sense and was disproportionate. About that time, I guess we all started growing up anyway....Fast forward, I now have a 6 year old son. I've tried various approaches, but until recently he just didn't take to slot cars. A recent trip to a local 1:24 raceway did the trick, and now he's, let's just say, enthusiastic. :) I have a bunch of old AFX track (not sure why), but couldn't find any cars. Cars are pricey these days. For about the cost of two new cars, I got this set instead. I figured I could use some extra track (yes, it is the same) etc. It arrived promptly (I did not order it from "Best Service Stores", with whom I will not do business due to a bad experience here; I used another amazon seller), and I set it up at work. Perfect! An added benefit to this little set is the 3 way power supply. You can slow the cars down. I have a variable power supply I have used for 1:32 cars (a good one), and I may hook it up once I have a full track setup. But this little power pack allows you to switch between three power settings, a great idea they should have done long ago.The only thing I would caution you on, this really is a tiny track. Just two straight sections. And even on the slow setting the cars whip around it in no time flat (the variable power supply really is a key piece of equipment for anyone doing a home slot car setup). It will get you going, but you will bore of it quickly and want more track. Which of course is very easy to get. This seems to be about the cheapest entry to HO cars these days, at least among brands I know and trust. Get one. No matter how old you are.

Great for children and adults
By Dr Dooley
The beginner/intermeditate/advanced settIngs ads a whole new dimension to a beginner slot car set. The cars are durable, though one is noticeably faster. This does not detract from the experience but adds another element of skill at te tougher settings. We got this as a gift for our friend's five year old son. He kept saying "Zoom!" and wanted to try all the settings, take the cars apart, and race his sister. In short, it was a hit.

Grandson loves it
By Jim Osburn
This was a super fast delivery, and the price was very good. It is easy to set up, and looks and works great. The cars are super fast and seem to be holding up. My grandson and I both have a great time racing together.
