The ONLY one that would work for us!

This is an amazing baby gate. We had an extremely hard time finding a gate that would meet our needs. This was the fifth gate we bought and it was the ONLY one that would work. We needed something tall that would fit at the top of stairs - one side was wall and the other a deeply set banister with a 3 inch lip. This gate was extremely easy to install and offers a lot of choices for customizations to fit every need.We have had the gate up for over a year now and are very pleased. Our son routinely hangs on it, shakes it, and pounds it. One portion of the gate did begin to loosen (not compromising the gate) and I called Regalo and they sent a replacement part for free. Great customer service!

Incorrect product description

Just purchased this gate recently with the intention of wall mounting it at the top of the stairs. I unpacked it and put it in place to see roughly how it would look. Perfect! Then I installed the wall mounts and dropped the door in place. Super easy! I go to swing the door closed and it's too wide to close!! The product description says "Expands to fit openings 27" - 54" wide and is 35" tall". The gate alone, completely contracted, is 33". The wall mounts for each side add another 2 1/2" for a total of 35 1/2" at its shortest length! Maybe Regalo actually makes a gate that is 27" wide and this product description was a typo. Either way, if the space you plan on putting this gate in is not at least 36" wide it will not work for you. Lame.

Hard to open and close

If you want to make darn sure the kid can't open this, this is great. But keep in mind, you have to open it too. This was relatively easy to install but opening and closing are tough. 10 year olds have had to call for help. I have to squeeze the handles with one hand and use my foot to raise it in order to open it and you have to line up the peg with the hole just right to close it. It's secure but a major pain!
