Great system, heated is the way to go.

I bought this camera system to replace a standard unit that I had installed for about a year. Was unable to troubleshoot the old unit and was out of warranty so figured I would upgrade while I was at it.WOW what an upgrade! This unit comes with a bit to much wire for my application (f350 crew cab long bed), but I was able to hide it under the dash and under the center console. The install is easy and quick, about 3 hours including drilling for camera placement and a dash trigger. I found the camera to be twice as heavy as the standard model and it seemed to be reflected in build quality. I did "not" like the mic function for my purposes but it can be muted; if you need a mic this one works really well.Excellent night vision, heat works great in both rain and snow. I found I have to clean the lens once a day from spray in "winter" conditions. Rain was not an issue. Visibility is excellent in all conditions weather it was parking lot lighting, pitch black, or daylight. I do get some sun refraction a certain times of the day, but its temporary and so I have not felt the need for a sunshade. I have it on a 12 volt trigger so I can keep it on when plowing, but you can wire for reverse or even multiple cameras for left right turning triggers off your signal lights.All in all I love this system.A quick note: This camera uses a different plug than a standard camera. I think this may have to do with the power circuit for the heated camera. But at any rate be aware that the plug is not standard so additional cameras will need to be of the same type, or maybe contact Rear View Safety to see if an adapter is available if you already have an extra camera and would like to use it as an add on with this system
