They just work.

DC's just work. No hassles, and no breakage. You'll pay a little more for these than some of the off brands, but the quality is worth it. I had a set of Telex ANR headsets for years, but I was forever changing batteries and the chords were mighty fragile. I finally got tired and got the DC 13.4s even though they do not have ANR. I have not missed ANR one iota to be honest. I spend a lot less time fiddling before and during flight with batteries and wiring or to accommodate passengers. If you fly the usual 2-4 seat airplane like the C-172, PA-28, DA-40, etc, you really don't need ANR anyway.
