This is a quality watch at an excellent price

To begin, let say I not a connoisseur of watches. I have owned two excellent watches in my life time and this makes the third. My last watch was also a Swiss Military Hanowa and it lasted for 20 years before finally giving up the ghost. This is what prompted me to purchase another Swiss Military Hanowa watch.As a pilot and a truck driver time is important to me and as such I wanted a watch with chronograph capabilities. I also required a continual date/day function. This watch meets all my needs.In the week of so that I have used this watch I have found the following pro's and con's.ProIt keeps excellent timeThe chronograph starts and resets with ease even while driving.The face is large enough to read even at a glanceThe wrist band is very comfortable, even when the watch is being worn for an extended period of timeConMy only complaint is I wish the hands had brighter illumination capability at night. This, however, is a minor complaint and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I've had this watch for 8-months now. Shipped to me in Australia by my bro-in-law in the US, as Amazon usually doesn't ship to countries where the manufacturer won't honour warranty. I knew I was taking a risk with warranty and I did have problems...After about 3-months the watch started to play-up becoming inconsistent with time. I thought it was a dying battery, so I had it changed and the watch pressure tested. The problem got no better, so I knew it had to be more than the battery.I mailed it to an authorised Hanowa repairer in Sydney with a copy of the Amazon invoice. They diagnosed a faulty movement and replaced it without a fuss. Sent it back and did not charge for a pressure test, as I had supplied the receipt to prove it was already done by a watchmaker.The watch has been running now for 4-months without missing a beat. Thanks Hanowa - great support.As far as the watch itself is concerned, it looks nice enough. The leather band is quality and all the components don't look cheap at all. The best experience was when it worked after dropping 5-feet on a hard tiled floor from a gym locker shelf. Wow! Not even a crack on the sapphire glass! Just a minor scratch on the bezel, which gives this sports watch the `worn' look.Nice one again Hanowa. I am one happy customer :-)
