Product Description

Introducing the New and Improved Version 3 WoodRiver Bench Planes! Our new Version 3 bench planes are still based on the reliable Bedrock design and feature heavy, stress -relieved ductile iron castings, fully machined adjustable frogs and A-2 blades but we took the opportunity between manufacturing runs to do a critical review and make a few improvements. Weve changed the shape of the rear tote and increased the diameter of the blade adjustment wheel to make advancing the blade a bit easier. We improved the lateral adjustment lever and added a traditional style bearing for better control of the blade. Weve made numerous changes to the castings that result in better feedback and a solid feel to the user. Working closely with our own manufacturer, weve continued to make improvements in machining, finish and functionality which we feel have yielded hand planes that are meant to be used and offer an extraordinary value. Tools require minimal tune-up prior to use. An all-purpose plane, the No. 5, or jack, plane will perform almost any job you might need done, while providing you with experience and feed back to help you pick your next plane. The 14 length makes the No. 5 useful for stock removal, smoothing, shooting miters, and jointing smaller work.

Very impressive!!
By StainlessSteel
I purchased this Wooodriver #5 Jack plane after reading reviews on woodcraft website and a youtube video. straight from the box I removed the plastic bag and wiped off the rust preventive. The blade was sharp and I was getting some really great shavings. Checked the body for flatness less than .002 on a Starrett straight edge. Sides came in square to the sole, also using a Starrett square.Finish on the bottom and sides surfaces from the factory was excellent and the Bubinga handles felt nice. A very nice plane for the money!!

Buyer Beware: Poor Item; Poor Service; Poor Experience!
By Henry
This product was to be purchased for school. Item came in the mail and later subsequently opened to what was an extremely foul chemical/gasoline like smell. Completely unacceptable. I've been in garages where the odor has been more pleasant than this abomination for a futon mattress. Despite having had it sit in the sun for an afternoon the odor did not dissipate. The odor was so strong that the entire room would fill with its stench let alone any one who dare lie atop the futon. As such, a polite request to the seller was sent. Upon multiple messages the seller (DAN) finally replied completely side-stepping the issue of it being a defective and potentially hazardous product. He tried drawing the relationship of buying his goods to buying a tee shirt from a stand. Needless to say, Dan is standing by his product and refusing to provide a refund even despite my offer to pay the return shipping costs. Hey Dan, last time I checked, tee shirts don't cost that much and can be washed! I'm done working with Dan, he and his entire outfit will be hearing from the Better Business Bureau. *According to other product reviews in the past, there appears to be a strong of reports regarding the foul chemical like stench coming from the futon. So this is not an isolated incident! As such, BUYER BEWARE!

Nice
By wir3d
It does have a distinct smell, but it isn't bad. The mattress is a lot thicker than I expected and very comfortable. I don't have a bed, so I've been using this for several months and it's been great, plus it is nice to be able to roll it up for the extra space.
