Product Description
The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

My first pair(s).
By F. Williams, Jr.
Order these in the dark brown. Made in Mexico, but are of very high quality. Nice cushioned foot bed that allows me to wear them with or without shocks and with jeans. The soles have rubber inserts on the heel and midway the shoe for support and traction on hard surfaces. Out of all of the penny loafers that I looked at and tried on, these proved to be the better of them all. I also got them a lot cheaper than the suggested retail price, a nice thing. I normally wear an 11D, but a shoe store told me to order these, loafers, a 1/2 size smaller and I did. The are not too narrow and with all leather shoes, they will stretch a little. I will definitely be ordering more shoes from the Frye line, but not at the retail price. I missed an excellent opportunity on Amazon for a similar Frye product that was reduced by $100.00 and I am kicking myself in the butt for that. I love quality shoes and these definitely exceed my expectations.Update: Just received these in black and saddle. Love both. I wore the dark brown for a day out with a pair of Levi's jeans and Old Navy button down long sleeve shirt. I was not disappointed. The rubber insert at the mid sole and heel are a plus. Great traction and comfort, (leather foot bed). I wore them without socks. At the end of the day my feet were not tired or sore. The shoe just felt natural and well balanced. You can't go wrong with a penny loafer, especially one made by Frye. I am just learning of the how versatile this shoe is, and with three color choices, I have nothing but time to experiment. Vintage and modern look all in one shoe.
