5A step up from the ordinary
By John D. Doe
As a guy who previously only purchased sub $100 watches, the Citizen Men's CA0020-05E Eco Drive Strap Watch is an entirely new experience for me. I decided to allocate nearly three times my normal watch budget for this purchase just so I could determine whether I would see any useful improvement over my usual budget watches. My last watch is a Seiko that I bought at a kiosk in a Buenos Aires mall and I've always wondered if it was an knock-off since I've never seen its model number in Seiko's online documentation. The two differences I see between the Citizen and my budget Seiko are size and weight. The Citizen is noticeably larger on my wrist. Not so large as to create the appearance that I'm trying to be a rap-star but I estimate ¼ to 1/3 larger in diameter than my previous watch. At first, I was taken aback by the larger size but now I'm quite used to it and, if choosing another watch, I would prefer the larger size of the Citizen. The weight of the Citizen seems to be half the weight of my previous watch. I used to remove my watch the moment I walked into my house because the weight was distracting. Now I only remove my watch at shower time and even this really isn't necessary since it is water resistant.Physically, I am a smallish guy. 5' 10" and 150 lbs. My wrist is smaller than the average male's wrist. I need to use the last hole in the wrist band in order to have the watch tight on my wrist. This leaves about an inch of the band flapping. I thought at first this might be a problem but it really isn't. I don't notice it anymore and no one has commented on it. I think that, in general, the leather wrist band is better suited for males of small stature, like myself, because the leather wrist band breaks in over time and the watch positions itself on the top center of my wrist. With a metal band on my small wrist, the watch is pulled to the edge of my wrist and never changes position regardless how long I've owned the watch. This was the case with my previous Seiko which I owned for approximately ten years. The quality and appearance of the Citizen are leagues above what I've experienced previously in the sub $100 class. On the web site, the Citizen looks like a flat black watch. On my wrist, it has a very appealing reflective gray appearance. I personally think the watch imparts an "expensive" aura and I receive many favorable comments. My only real concern with the watch is that it looks expensive and I am sometimes concerned that I am more at risk of being mugged than when I wore obviously inexpensive watches. So the bottom line, is this watch worth the additional money? That depends. If money is tight then buy a perfectly functional sub $100 watch and be happy with it. There is nothing life changing about owning a more expensive watch. However, if another couple of hundred dollars is easily allocated, there is a lot of satisfaction to be derrived from having an obviously well built, good quality watch. I don't regret the purchase. I plan to keep this watch far longer than the usual five to ten year replacement cycle of my previous watches. Finally, I can't say how this watch compares to other watches in the same price category or to more expensive watches but, then again, this review isn't directed to those who have experience with what I would call expensive watches.

5Great eco drive chronograph from Citizen
By Lakpriya DeSilva
This is a very classy watch that goes equally well with a buttoned down oxford shirt or a golf shirt. The Black dial with three textured sub-dials and white markings is complemented by the black leather strap with white stitching. Because the case is titanium the watch is surprisingly light. Also I like the fact that the crystal is sapphire instead of mineral glass giving it added scratch protection. The date window is very readable and the 24 hour (am/pm) sub-dial is a nice touch. I used the chronograph feature to do incremental timing of higher speed bursts during my workout runs and it was very easy to use and the button were very intuitive. And the best feature of this watch is the eco-drive technology, basically it never needs a new battery. Finally I like the fact that Citizen company only builds serious watches, unlike most other retail watch brands whose makers also make sunglasses, pocket knifes, t-shirts etc.

5Awesome Watch!
By Zach
I've had this watch for almost a year now and it is amazing! As others have mentioned, the titanium makes it extremely light weight as well as the fact that it has a leather band. It is comparable in weight to a cheap digital watch which makes it much more comfortable to wear. I usually have problems with scratching my watches, but the sapphire doesn't have a single scratch in almost a year of daily wear. This is unheard of in other watches in my opinion. It's a little expensive but well worth it.Just so you know, the second hand on the watch is the lower subdial. The larger main second hand is only for the stopwatch feature.
