Flawed Design, Failed Quickly

I have owned several pairs of Clarks, and always found them to be incredibly comfortable. This pair lived up to my expectations for comfort, and the design is suitable for office wear. Unfortunately, this pair only lasted a few weeks of gentle wear (sedentary office wear, no exposure to bad weather, etc) before they started having a problem. I believe the problem is because of the design rather than receiving a defective pair. On the raised "piping" (not sure what else to call it) around the top of the toe box, there is a glued seam. When your foot flexes as you walk, it stresses the adhesive and the seam is forced apart. On both shoes this seam failed in multiple locations, revealing the plastic piping underneath. This pair will be returned, and I will try a different model of Clarks shoes (perhaps the Un.Kenneth), as I still think very highly of the brand.EDIT 1/8/13: Returned these to the Clarks store that I originally purchased them from. They took good care of me, and they recommended the Un.Kenneth as an alternative. I had to go up a half size to get the fit right (that shoe is shaped a bit differently than this one). The Un.Kenneth is even more comfortable than these were. Time will tell on the durability, but the difference in the types of seams and where they are placed certainly look better than these ones.Update 4/29/13 (copied/pasted from my comment below):I've been wearing the Un.Kenneth's daily since early January (almost 4 months), and am very happy with them. I do keep cedar shoe trees in them when not wearing them. I think you'll like them a lot better.

The shoe is okay

I have owned these shoes for a little over a month now and one of the toes is already starting to dis color. For what I paid for these shoes I would expect better quality. My next pair of black dress shoes will not be Clark's!

Excellent Shoe

Extremely comfortable and stylish enough to wear with a suit. I've owned four pair of Unstructured and I doubt I'll ever buy a different brand of dress or casual shoes.
