Perfect for this adult complete beginner!

I am not from a musical family and came to be interested in musical instruments in my adulthood. As such, I tend to learn on my own in my free time rather than from formal lessons. This combination of instrument, software, and protective case is perfect for my first dabble into violin! Granted, the violin is inexpensive with cheap strings and a cheap bow. However, as a complete ignoramus, I would have made the hair on the back of a cats neck bristle had I been butchering a professional grade instrument! I found this option to be a good start to get your muscle memory in positioning and bowing without having to worry too much on your investment and the instrument. If you are already beyond the beginner stage, I would op for a higher grade instrument. Oh, yeah, a good tuner Korg CA-40 Large Display Auto Chromatic Tuner and shoulder rest Everest EZ Series Shoulder Rest for 4/4 Violin are necessities; peg drops The Original Peg Drops by Ardsley, better strings, and better rosin would be luxuries once you find yourself really going to keep this up!

good for a beginner

It helped me get started with learning to play the violin. The dvd was for kids, but good basic instruction that I needed. I will pass it on to anyone who wishes to learn.
