Product Description
Being Water's Floating Intake Filter is used to pull the cleanest available water in the storage tank or cistern by resting several inches below the surface. This is important because sediment sinks to the bottom and debris floats on top. The floating Intake filter accepts water through the stainless steel filter, then enters the Food Grade smooth wall flexible piping and exits through the True Union ball check valve on it's way to the watering system. The check valve is positioned on the interior or the exterior of the tank depending on your installation preferences. The screen always stays submerged under water unless the tank is emptied. Once the water level gets within an inch of the bottom of the tank, air will enter the valve and any water contaminated with sediment will not be drawn into the system. This is very important if the water system is being used for irrigation where small emitters that could become easily plugged are used or, if the water is being sent to secondary filtration for further cleaning. Available in four sizes, Being Water's Floating Intake Filter is very versatile. There is a size available for your particular need. The 1/2"unit is perfect for rain barrels or tanks that don't have a large irrigation demand. The 1" and 1-1/2" models can be used comfortably to supply a large irrigation system or residence and use commercial quality food grade hoses. This is the same type of hose that is used in food production plants and dairies throughout the world and the material is FDA approved. This No-Kink flexible hose is guaranteed to not kink under normal conditions and has a working pressure of 50 psi.

Works great, easy install for catchment tank.

We live on the Big Island of Hawaii and use a catchment system for our water. Previously, our intake was at the bottom of tank and would regularly pick up large chunks of sediment that would clog our string filters quickly. Looking around, our in-town catchment supplier had a similar product for around $80, but did not have a check valve and had a clear 5 foot hose which they themselves cautioned might kink when the tank is full.After cutting off the PVC pipe at the top of our tank and gluing a threaded fitting (had to purchase separately), all I had to do to install the intake was to screw it on and it was ready to go. The kink-resistant hose works great and the buoy keeps the mesh intake about 4-6 inches below the surface.Shipping was fast, received the product in less than a week.
