5A Casual Unstructured Porkpie
By Steven Rossellini
On those fall and winter days when you need a hat, but not a hat to really protect you from the cold, the Kangol Mowbray is a stylish and comfortable selection. I have many hats and the Mowbray is one of the most comfortable. I can't emphasize enough, how unstructured and soft this hat really is. Unless it's handled with some caution, it can easily turn into a watch cap. I have a large, and it fits comfortably. In a correctly sized structured fedora, such as a Borsalino, Dobbs, Stetson, Resistol, etc., I wear a 7 3/8 or 59 cm, although with perfect sizing I'd wear a 59.5. The Mowbray will comfortably fit a 60 cm, as it does run a bit large, and is easily stretched to fit.

4Kangol Wool Mowbray
By T. Snyder
I own several styles of Kangol's and wish there were more reviews on them. It's tough to know how they're going to fit ahead of time since you usually can't go to the mall and try all the styles on. I got my Wool Mowbray in flannel, in size Large. Flannel is basically a grey with a little bit of texture/swirl pattern in it. It looks really good as a color. I'm normally a 7 3/8 in New Era baseball caps for reference.First off, the Wool Mowbray (and the Bamboo Mowbray) is a sweet-looking pork pie hat. The shape just looks downright cool. It looks cool just sitting on a desk even when you're not wearing it. I find it fairly structured. It's not really floppy, and it's definitely not rigid. The blend is 60% wool/40% poly. Given the "wool" description in the name, it doesn't feel too thick/ too scratchy. It's fairly thin, but not to the point where I'd wear it during summer though. I would not want to pack it flat on a trip though. I suppose you could, as I think it would retain its shape, but I wouldn't risk the long-term damage on a nice hat.The brim looks much better folded up, as a pork pie. I don't know why anyone would flip it down in the front. If you want to do that, just buy a normal fedora. If you're looking for sun coverage for your eyes, sorry, there isn't any. It basically covers the top of your head. The hat's simplicity and symmetry is part of its appeal to me.I really like that the Wool Mowbray has a lower top/rise than some other Kangol's I have owned (Tropic Player for example). Wool Mowbray fits snug, doesn't feel bulky, or too tall.I have a Bamboo Mowbray too, and the sizing on the wool is maybe a tad bigger than on the Bamboo. I've found that Kangol's wools seem to run a smidge larger in general. Thus, I'm knocking off a point from the 5-star rating.Overall though, this is definitely a great hat for hipsters/ musicians/ anyone a little bit quirky. An all-around-cool hat for non-summer months. I would buy again.
