5Just had to try'm
By James
I've worked with Divas and other Kino Flo lights through the years.I wanted to try something that looked like it was built better and did not have the high price tag. I thought [...] bucks would be worth a try for the Cowboy lights. So far I have not been disappointed. The light fixtures seem to be built better than the Diva. The lamps are the same so the quality of light is the same as the Diva. They do not dim. Usually on location we end up dimming the our Divas or turning off a couple of tubes any way. So dimming may not be an issue. As soon as I got them I put them to work on several shoots. They perform well. There are a few of things you need to know before you buy.1. The barn doors are not a gold color as in the picture. The "plastic rip off shipping protection cover" makes them look gold or yellow.2. The stands are usable. I don't care for the springs inside or the locks. The 5/8" stud is a what I call a photographers stud. The stands I have and that you would get off of any truck usually do not have a small threaded end. They work well with the lights.3. The hole for the stud on the light fits the stands that come with the kit. They are a little tight on regular stands.4. The removable long power cord is a great asset.

4Who needs Kino?
By JoshPies
They say you pay for what you get... well, I'm not sold on that phrase. This set of lights mimics almost exactly any Kino of the same wattage and bulbing that I have used in the past. These are fairly well made and far easier to transport than any Kino I've used. Its like the lowell case light minus a lot of money. Now, if you are a traveling ENG shooter or working directly for a major network, buy expensive. In fact, travel is my only concern with these. I don't feel like flying with them. Other than that, well... I'll probably buy a 4 bulb to compliment this. What its not: Not a rental unit. Not a unit to be dragged across the frozen tundra. I'm guessing 1x use in outer space. What it is: A basic quality even lighting source with daylight bulbs included (which shocked me btw).

4Excellent for the price
By mikethis
These use and ship with the same bulbs as the expensive pro fixtures. Your foot is in the door. They don't dim, and the stands requireadjustment on the spring tension every time they are setup. They "reflective foil" does fall off as someone else said. Not a big deal at allconsidering they are a fraction of the price of the big bad pro stuff. For the price I believe they are more than worth it. I've had them for a while now and they fire up every time.I did buy a set of 3200 bulbs from ALZO Digital that work well for some added versatility.
