Solid set of cabinets for residential use...

The Ultimate Pro are a solid set of non-industrial cabinets. They are not as sturdy as welded 18 gauge or better steel cabinets but very strong for "DIY" build style cabinets and adequate for non-daily use. I received the set in 11 boxes. Each piece came undamaged and was very well wrapped in styrofoam and paper. This was probably one of the best packaged unassembled furniture sets I have received. I constructed each of the pieces by myself. It would be good to get someone to help you lift the larger cabinets but doable solo (just be sure to build the tall cabinets close to where you're going to set it). The construction directions were adequate. I wish their illustrations were just a bit more detailed, I found myself back tracking a couple times when I did not have the pieces facing the right direction. One other "build" criticism is that their slip-fit fastners are not well designed and slow the process of tightening panels together. Another thing I would recommend is prior to placing the back panel on, drill a 2-3" screw through the top support panel into a stud. I found the raised cabinets and the tall cabinets did not have sufficient sway/EQ support which is a must in CA. The weakest component (IMO) to these cabinets is probably the pull-drawers which use heavy cardboard for the bottoms. You really can't put anything too heavy in them, maybe hand tools. One nice build detail that wasn't clear to me in the description is that the weight bearing base/bottom shelf that the "feet" connect to is also 1" thick. I've put 12, one gallon cans of paint on a shelf with no signs of bending. Overall the cabinets look very nice in my garage and suit my needs of storing things in a set of enclosed cabinets. I'm more a weekend DIYer and will not be opening/closing things daily or constantly taking things on/off the shelves.
