The trained ear can hear a murmur with a $5 stethoscope. This stethoscope allows me to pick up faint pericardial rubs or plural friction rubs simply by varying the pressure on the bevel. Nice feature and sturdy product.

Veridian Pinnacle Series Low Profile Cardiology Stethoscope

The Veridian Pinnacle Series Low Profile Cardiology Stethoscope is one I recommend!The Veridian and Littman side by side are equal for the most part. The price difference is obvious! In Fire/Rescue/Paramedic and Wilderness Evac this works very well! Ambient noise is always a problem, the Veridian is actually a dual tube into one which helps! The environment whether rain, snow, mud, etc. are really no problem as there is no mechanical axle as on dual head scopes. Only the ear pieces are subject to contaminants. I have, after a fall thru ice into a 3' lake shore, shaken out the scope and it worked fine. A little Armor All and it is all cleaned up! I have liked the solid stainless steel construction as compared to others that use chrome plated zinc. Also note that the single diaphragm does essentially the same as a diaphragm/bell dual head stethoscope by pressure variances in pressing the scope to the body.
