fun & creative

Magnetics gives a kid a chance to create all sorts of fun things. My son creates designs and shares them with others in the family. They look really cool and a little bit "space-age".

Nice edition to existing set

I've been a big fan of these magnetic types of sets ever since they corrected the problem with the magnets falling out.This set is durable, holds up to a lot of playing and throwing. My kids and I build structures like pyramids, cubes, spiders, etc. and then setup armies. We throw the silver balls at each others' creations and try to destroy them. This set has held up to repeated hard hits from those metal balls and doesn't show any wear and tear yet. So the toy can definitely take a beating.I was impressed by the silver metallic look - to me it was very cool. However my 5 year old daughter was very disappointed that there were no colors. We have a large set of colored ones already, but even that wasn't enough to attract her interest. So you might check with your child to find out if the "wow" factor of a metallic silver set will work with them.The box art makes it really look like an attractive product. However, 35 pieces isn't really that much. I would recommend this as an addon to an existing set rather than as your first Magnetix set, as you can't do much with it on its own.
