Seductive sound, not to be overlooked

I wholeheartedly agree with 5alph..'s review. I had never heard of Phonak or Audeo until I started researching for the purchase of some quality earphones. I must say learning that Phonak is a Swiss company with decades of experience producing hearing aids is noteworthy. I value my hearing and wear ear protection when using certain machinery or equipment, and in the shooting sports. Thankfully, my hearing is still good and, instead of buying their other line of products, I'm enjoying the music.My previous use of earbuds and earphones has been from unimpressed to painful, when compared to other sources of music from quality speakers or headphones. I knew there were better IEMs (in-ear monitors)available and was aware of some top names, such as Shure and Klipsch. Like all of these types of noise cancelling earphones, you need a good seal in the ear canal to experience the sound quality they are capable of delivering. This takes some experimenting with the different sizes of tips that are included and how to position them. Among a few accessories not included with the Audeo Perfect Bass models that are included with the Perfect Fit models is the Comply foam tips. Many people have said they are the most comfortable and best sounding tips because they seal so well. I will need to order some to try with the Perfect Bass.I am far from an expert with IEMs, but know what sounds good and what doesn't. These sound good. I like the balance of bass and midrange. Bass response has a natural and tight sound, but not so much as to overpower the midrange. Midrange is a bit laid back but not muddy and detail is amazing. Listen to all your old familiar recordings and you'll probably hear new things you have not noticed before. You really don't need a lot of volume to be immersed in the music. I appreciate Phonak's caution to avoid excessive volume to prevent hearing damage. I try to stress that to our kids so they too can continue to enjoy the music as they grow older.The cable seems to be durable and does not tangle easily. They are designed to fit around the ear with the body fitting nearly flush with the surface of the ear. This will relieve some stress where the cable connects to the earphone and the cable does not dangle down or snag easily to break the seal or pull them out. It makes me curious how much better the earphones might sound that are 2x - 5x the price. If you are reluctant to spend even $100 on earphones, keep in mind there is a two year replacement warranty with these. If you are replacing cheap and fragile earbuds every few weeks, you are not saving any money and you are missing out on how good your music can sound. I give the Audeo Perfect Bass a 5 star rating because they do deliver incredible performance and value.

I've used many headphones and earbuds over the years, but nothing prepared me for the aural tour de force of the Phonaks.This is my first balanced armature earbuds and based on the performance of the Phonaks I doubt I will be using any other technology again. The phonaks are a bit bass heavy, but they pump out extremely textured bass, not the single note bass of many other headphones.Phonak is a relatively new player in the ear bud arena, and these really bolster Phonak's position as a premium audio vendor. I've tried listening to Techno, Progressive House, Dubstep, Metal and a bit of Pop music and all sound exceedingly good!I've paired these up to a PA2V2 portable amplifier and the sound is sublime. Nothing short of mind blowing.I highly recommend these!!

Great fit, good sound

This is my second pair, after I damaged the cord in the gym. I purchased a second pair because this is the best fitting phones I have tried (out of 4 different brands). The fit is perfect - they stay in place when I exercise, and are completely comfortable. The sound quality is good, but is not as dynamic as my other pairs. The bass is a little weak. Mids are not muted, as in many bass heavy pairs. Treble is sufficient, and is never harsh. I am happy with the sound, but it does no wow me. My other favorite pair is Klipsch s4i. I like the sound of the Klipsch better. The bass is more defined and the sound more dynamic. The mids can be a little weak. The Klipsch do not fit well, however. Perhaps my ears are sized right between the plugs, because they either do not stay in place, or they have enough pressure to be uncomfortable. Note that depending upon where you buy these, additional filters are included. This brand can have a problem with ear wax covering the filter, reducing the volume from one earphone. I did not have a problem using my first pair for a year. On my second pair, this happened immediately. The solution is to replace the filter. This could be a problem if it happens much. Luckily, Phonak mailed me filters and the tool for free. I feel that there must be better sounding phones, but for the price, this is the best fitting and best sounding pair that I have found so far.
