These boots are fantastic. Did not buy them on Amazon, but another retail site that emailed me of a special "close-out" sale they were having. Bought them for $44! $55 with shipping and handling included. Anyway, I've worn them two days now and love them! They are very comfortable with the side zip working flawless. My two officer buddies I work with like them a lot as well and said, "You can't go wrong with Bates!" I guess this is my first set of boots from them and probably not my last if they hold up over time?One other thing, I was very impressed with the overall quality right out of the box and the packaging. The company seems to care about putting out a very good product.g-

I just got these today so I cannot speak to longevity yet but with respect to a brand new boot and the normal slight discomfort you get with a well-fitting boot until you break it in. These are more comfortable that I would have thought. Having to get size 10EEEE, I've run into a lot of shoes and boots that say it but are a lot closer to standard width or maybe a EE width. This is not the case with the Bates 8" C3. The 4E is really a 4E and this boot fits my wide foot nicely. The size 10 is also just right in length so I don't have two extra inches of toe hanging out past my toes. The only item I would mention to put it out there may only be me because I have short little tree trunk calves but the laces included with the boots come up a little short if I try to lace them all the way to the top of the boot. I plan to get a set of laces that are a few inches longer or you can stop short of the top or you may not have this issue depending on your calf size. I highly recommend this product. If they don't hold up under use, I'll update my review later.
