Product Description
So, the heckler spots you plugging in your ultra-cool Electro-Harmonix 44 Magnum micro amp head and says, all cocky like, "Hey, man! What are you doing plugging that there stompbox straight into your speaker cabinet?" You say nothing in reply... just plug your guitar into the pedal-sized 44-watt beast of a head, flip the brightness switch, dial up the super-simple single volume knob until you get a satisfying real-amp overdrive, and proceed to pummel the fool back into the crowd. Then, you swagger up to the mic and say with a smirk: "And, don't even THINK about yelling, 'Free Bird'." The 44 Magnum works great as a dedicated amp head or as your ultimate backup head. This ultra-small, mini-priced box sounds absolutely huge!

great unit. wish for more headroom.
By shannon pengelly
I've been using this for about a month now, trying to save my back. I play in a band called Yacht Rock which does smooth 70's - 80's covers. I switched from a large amp setup to a Pod HD500 into the .44 Magnum going into a a Marshall 1X12 (I have an EV in the cab). So far this thing has been amazing, it usually puts out plenty of clean(ish) power for most gigs. I usually never turn it past 9 o'clock, this little thing is loud! After 9 o'clock it does start to break up a bit, sometimes this is a good thing. I kind of like a little extra saturation at times and it imparts a sort of tube-like quality to the (better than old ones but still a Pod) Pod. After 10 O'clock though, this thing gets a bit too nasty, starts to distort a bit too much. I wish it had a bit more volume before breakup but again, I hardly ever need it that loud anyway. I do wish they'd offer a mod for disabling whatever the drive circuit is doing in there for when you need it cleaner louder. Do I miss the sound of 100watt boutique head?....yes, but now I can carry my entire setup in one trip to the car.... by myself.... easily! My chiropractor hates this pedal.

Seriously loud tiny amp
By Muddy Moe
I bought this to play in an apartment, and actually think I should have bought the 22 Caliber instead and saved some money. The headroom on this pedal is impressive. Into a Marshal 2x12, I can't risk dialing the volume above nine o'clock without seriously rattling the walls. The headroom is a good thing, however, as the pedal has enough horsepower to play bass through at least at practice volumes, which I have also done. It's also an ideal power amp for an amp modeller such as a POD.I bought it primarily as a novelty of having such a tiny amp for home usage. However, as a member of a gigging band, I will start carrying this in my gig bag. I play bass in my band and doubt that it will have sufficient headroom for stage usage if my 350 watt bass head goes dead. However, if either of the guitar player's amps die, this 44 watt tiny monster should be fine to get us through the remainder of the gig.I haven't owned it long enough to rate the reliability. Hopefully it will last for hundreds of hours of play time. Time will tell.Lastly, do not even THINK about running the output of this pedal into another pedal or into the line in of a PA. Bad things will happen. The only thing you should put in the output of this pedal is a speaker cable into a passive power speaker rated above 4 ohms. EH warns the user in the documentation. However, I suspect some people see this "pedal" and make the mistake anyway.

Game changer
By Brian T. Clem
Talk about something that fills a need for me. I have a few guitar speakers from Eminence. My old modded ADA MP-1... but needed a better way of powering everything. My Experience:1. This Magnum 44 sounds good running straight into it dry. My guitars have GFS blade humbuckers and can push the 44 hard. 12:00 is loud and clean. 2-3:00 has enough to pull off Iron Man... Ozzy/Randy stuff... almost..... cranked, even more on your plate.2. With my ADA MP-1, it became too fun to put down. Somehow they made it super small but still made it sound great for guitar tone.3. I brought it into work and used it dry as I warmed up my students. (Vocal warm-ups) Lots of headroom and a nice clean sound.PROS:1. Light and extremely portable. Pocket portable. Not recommended for long pocket trips but from the Jeep to the classroom worked for me.2. Sound is good. Better than I expected they could do.3. Forget getting a crazy $$$ amp. Get a good preamp and some speakers with this and you are set unless you need to play out where you are NOT mic'ed. If you are mic'ed then this works very well.4. Made in USA.CONS:1. They didnt have this years ago. (kind of stretching on that one).
