Product Description
The Yamaha CD-S300-RK CD player offers Pure Direct, a special listening mode which ensures the highest quality analog audio output. Pure Direct shuts down the digital audio output with the press of a button on the front panel or the remote control, and turns off the display, thus achieving the lowest possible noise interference. The USB port facilitates high quality sound playback from MP3 or WMA digital music files stored on USB players and memory devices, on memory cards connected to USB card readers, and, of course, on CD-R/RW discs. An iPod, too, connects to the USB port via USB cable for instant playback through an audio system. The digital signal is generated by the CD player with no degradation or jitter, converted to analog by the high performance DAC, and transmitted to the amplifier via high quality audio circuitry, for the ultimate in music playback fidelity. Play, pause, skip and forward/backward using the remote control. Song, artist and album names are displayed. Compatible with the iPod classic (including the 120GB classic), iPod nano (2nd, 3rd, 4th generation) and iPod touch (1st and 2nd generation). Charges the iPod automatically when the power is on and USB mode selected.

Excellent CD player. USB storage play is terrific ... with one exception
By D. Buerger
I wanted a basic but quality CD player for a small equipment rack in my home music studio. Integrating music stored on USB devices was essential. The Yamaha CD-S300 is well made and performs as expected with one exception: you cannot play WAV files stored on USB devices. The manual explains this, but who reads the manual before purchase? Some of us prefer the higher fidelity of WAV. So aside from having to convert my WAV files to MP3/320/VBR or AAC format, this is a good player for the price. The remote control enables extra features and is easy to use. Navigation of folders and files on USB is simple; you see the name of the folder/file on the digital display. I like everything about the CD-S300 except for the lack of WAV on USB. If that doesn't matter to you, the device gets five stars.

Great Unit
By Ty
The unit works perfectly. CD's that skipped on my old player don't skip here. The unit came with "feet" so it can be placed directly on a shelf as opposed to using a rack. That was important to me because I don't have a rack. The "ears" for rack mounting shouldn't be removed. There is a warning slip with the packaging stating that the mounting ears should not be removed. They're small enough that I don't really have a problem with that. However, if aesthetics or space are all important then consider carefully what to do. Hope this helps.Ty

Wonderful Yamaha purchase AND wonderful service from Pro Acoustics
By Herta Wiesike
I applaud the excellent service from Pro Acoustics. Our Yamaha CD player arrived nicely packed, in perfect condition, and several days early to boot! We will certainly purchase products from this fine company again. It has been a pleasure to write this glowing review. Thanks, Pro Acoustics! (P.S. The Yamaha CD player is even better than we had hoped for, and no pun intended, the acoustics provided by the player's DAC lend to a very life-like performance level throughout our entire house).
