5world class miter saw
By wilson
This is a great saw. I got the MFT/Kapex table combo because I have several Festool products and the Kapex cutting surface when placed on the MFT/Kapex table was designed to be at the same height as the MFT/3 table so both may be used together to support materials (Festool shines at clever stuff like this!). My primary use of this saw is in my shop for millwork to complement my table saw and band saw. I don't use the Kapex on job sites. I mention this because my goals are accuracy and convenience for millwork. At that, the Kapex has few if any peers.I wanted this Kapex for accurate cutting with dual-laser alignment. I have a single laser on my Makita chop saw, but this Festool dual laser takes accurate cutting to another plateau. There are some situations where the Kapex is just more convenient and accurate for me, and a lot faster, than using my table saw even with my wonderful Incra table sled - especially with longer stock. The rail forward design/small footprint was also important as I don't have much space (although that feature may be found on many less expensive, but high-quality sliding miter saws). The dust extraction works very well, too, with a Shop Vac 1 1/4" hose and a Fein 921072K13 step adaptor ($6@Amazon). (I should note that if you don't use a Festool vacuum, the auto on/off feature won't work. this is not a problem for me, but it may be a consideration for others). The Kapex is also light by miter saw standards. I also like the way that the Kapex uses the rear portion of the blade. Festool claims that this will cut 6 5/8" crown moldings. It also has a "trench cutting" feature that's pretty handy for a poor man's dado. The Kapex's rubber feet fit into the holes of the MFT table snugly for stability - another nice feature.Like the Festool track saws, blade changes are a breeze. The miter saw handles +/- 45 degree bevels and is very accurate, as is the rotation of the carousel. This accuracy is typical of Festool stationery power tools. This Festool Kapex delivers the accuracy i needed. There are other fine miter saws out there by Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee and the like, but the reviewers that I trust consistently recommended the Kapex for fine woodworking. That, together with the fact that I've been using Festool power tools successfully for several years, made the choice easier (except for the price). There are many features that I haven't mentioned that also speak well of the Kapex design. These are described in the product literature and demonstrated in the wealth of online videos available (see Festool's website or You Tube). In terms of convenient, accurate cutting Festool is hard to beat.Ironically, my first Kapex arrived damaged the same week as Maui Bill's (see his review), and like Maui Bill I received the replacement within a few days of CPO Festool's receipt of the box (they paid for the shipping back :-)

5The best miter saw on the market
By applecollector
This is by far the best miter saw on the market. The cuts are smooth, with no jerkiness even in thick oak and hickory. The laser alone will save me wasted stock and setup. I only wish I had purchased it years ago.
